Ding’s early exit from China open

Ding Junhiu was knocked out of the China open on the opening day of the event. He was up against Lee Walker who beat Ding with a surprising victory of 5-1.

A tired Ding was unable to get going during the match, perhaps due to being tired after reaching the semi final of the players championship before making a dash to get to China in time.

This defeat today therefore puts Ding in danger of having to qualify for the world championships in the next couple of weeks. According to the projected ranking as they stand, Ding is in 16th place in the world but if Stephen Maguire or Kyren Wilson reach the semi finals this week, then Ding will have to qualify for the world championships.
