Kyren Wilson and Anthony McGill: The New Generation

There has been a lot of talk recently, particularly with the world championships, about the two young guns of snooker who are set to dominate the top spots in the coming decades. Kyren Wilson and Anthony McGill certainly look like players that have the drive and skill to win major events.

Snooker has changed over the past couple of decades where it was once considered a young persons game. Players such as Hendry and Davis dominated quite young in life, while older players dropped off the tour. These days its very different!! It seems the older players dominate while the young players have to earn their skills through time.

Its not good enough anymore to be a good potter or break builder. Its about the complete package in today’s game, which players like O’Sullivan, Higgins and Bingham seem to possess.

Kyren Wilson and Anthony McGill seem to be very close to achieving the complete package, and when they get to that stage, they are sure for dominate the game.

Wilson this season alone has jumped over 50 places in the world rankings from 56 to 16!! By far the best up and coming player of the season!

kyren wilson and anthony mcgillMcGill does well on the big screen, particularly in the biggest of them all……the crucible world championships!! But besides here, McGill tends to struggle in the backstage qualifiers.

Snooker has been lacking in new talent in the recent few years, but now with Kyren Wilson and Anthony McGill on the scene, the future seems even more bright for the game.

We would all like to see Kyren Wilson and Anthony McGill lift some big trophy’s and there is no doubt they will, but the competition is big and the standards being set are ever increasing. Gone are the days where one player dominates the game!!
