As the amateur season got underway in the Republic of Ireland last month, we have a round up of the top news so far from the RIBSA snooker association.
Brendan O’Donoghue who plays in the New Institute snooker club in Nenagh Co Tipperary has one the first senior ranking event of the season beating Robert Murphy from the Q club Wicklow by 4-3.
On September 25th, Colm Gilcreest won the first Masters events on the RIBSA calendar, beating John Torpey by 3-1 in a epic final.
In the intermediate division, the first competition took place in Celbridge snooker club (home of Fergal O’Brien). Joe Corrigan from Newbridge beat Karl O’Donoghue from Potters snooker club Drogheda by 3-2.
In the under 21’s, Stephen Bateman from Kilkenny beat Andrew Doherty from the Willows by 3-2.
Aaron Hill (14) from the Crucible club, Cork, beat Mark Gleeson (new institute Nenagh) in the under 18’s.
