Stuart Bingham has been ejected from the UK championship after losing 6-4 to world No.64 Yu De Lu at the Barbican centre York
The 2015 World snooker Champion, Stuart Bingham took last week off by choosing not to play at the Northern Ireland Trophy to prepare for the second biggest tournament on the snooker calendar, the UK Championship.
Bingham was by far the favourite coming into the match against Yu De Lu and one of the top seeds to win the tournament.
In his second round match against Chinese player, Yu De Lu, the world no.2 played a poor match. Bad misses, poor safety and terrible long potting from both players made viewing quite hard tonight. It was the Chinese man that played that bit better than Bingham to secure his place in the last 32 of the event. final score 6-4 Yu De Lu.
This is the second big name to leave York this week, with Neil Robertson losing to Amteur player, Peter Lines earlier in the week.
Elsewhere Mark Selby had mixed performance earlier today against Daniel Wells. Although Selby made 2 century breaks in the match, his overall performance was poor and he was lucky to get himself over the line. The final score was 6-4 Selby.
John Higgins also had a scare today as he just about managed to get over the line against Thai sensation Noppon Saengkham 6-4.
Higgins who is the man on the month, winning both the snooker China Championship and the Champion of Champions looked a bit on edge, missing shots he normally wouldn’t. The Scot will be reflecting on his performance today and try come back stronger for his next snooker match.
Other match results saw Matthew Stevens, Stephen Maguire, Ali Carter, Mark Williams and Luca Brecel progress to the last 32.
Tomorrow, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Judd Trump will be in action as they hope to continue their quest to win the UK snooker Championships at the end of the week.
