After a breathtaking semi final with some of the best snooker anyone could wish to see, Ding proved too strong for veteran McManus and so Ding in world championship final by winning 17-11.
Ding is the first ever Chinese player to reach the final of the crucible theatre and appears to be the most relaxed out of the 4 semi finalists which could lead to Ding in the world championship final being victorious.
Last nights session at the crucible proved to be the session that propelled Ding into a 4 frame lead going into today’s session, leaving him with only 3 frames to win to secure Ding in the world championship final tomorrow.
During this match, Ding also managed to secure a new record, which was making seven century breaks in one match. In total the match had ten centuries with McManus making three of those in four frames yesterday morning in an amazing comeback session.
Ding in world championship final will no doubt cause a craze in China as he is the third most popular sports player in china, and with a population of more than 1 billion people, this years world championship final could prove to be the most watched final of all time.
We still don’t know who will be facing Ding in world championship final tomorrow, but there is a possibility that a second Asian could reach the final. Marco Fu is currently 12-12 deadlocked with Englishman, Mark Selby.
Although not much fireworks have been displayed by either player in this semi final, it has the making of a match that could go all the way to the wire. Selby clearly looks like the weaker of the two players based on his last performance but he is experienced enough to hold on and grind it out which he is so good at.
