Judd Trump has pulled out a spectacular defeat over Ronnie O’Sullivan in the final of the European Masters in Romania. The final promised everything a snooker fan could dream of and it didn’t disappoint.
Just as it looked as though O’Sullivan was going to win at 8-6 up, Trump struck back with three frames in a row to take the title right from under his feet.
Trump has always been in the shadow of O’Sullivan when it comes to head to heads. Both players have a similar game, being crowd pleasers and both hungry for coming in first place. But in the final today the tide has turned slightly in the favor of Trump who has got one up on O’Sullivan in one of the best finals your likely to see in a while to come.
Trump said after the match that he should of lost even though Ronnie had not been playing well in the final, going to show just how good O’Sullivan is.
But today is Paul Hunter’s 10th death anniversary and what a better way to celebrate the life of such a great snooker talent than having a fantastic final between these two great players.
And indeed Ronnie didn’t play all that well in the final, not even making a century break which is unlike the genius but what he did do, is play a very good B game which is better than anyone else’s in snooker.
With the English Open about to start, it looks like both players are in a good place and clearly both will be aiming for the 1 million pound bonus for any player that wins all four of the home nation series.
