Ronnie O’Sullivan back to his best as he beats Liang Wenbo 5-1 in the first round of the Players Championship
There’s been question marks over O’Sullivan’s recent application to snooker, failing to reach the heights he once did not so long ago. If any performance was going to silence those skeptical voices, then tonight was the night.
Ronnie turned up late to the venue. He made an appearance just 2 minutes before the match was scheduled to start.
Initially the rocket missed a couple of easy balls but was soon forgotten as he got into the groove.
Breaks of 72, 65, 118, 101 and 71 was more than enough to win the match convincingly. The manner in which he scored was even more impressive as he entertained the fans with some magnificent shots and positional play.
O’Sullivan said after the match;
“I’m feeling good about everything.
“I’m staying in Liverpool. I had a really nice run this morning which made me relax.
“Its a great event here.
“There is not really a lot to do in Llandudno
“You’ve got to play your game if you want to win tournaments.”
Ronnie O’Sullivan will now play the winner of Judd Trump and Mark King in the last 8 on Wednesday evening.
