Shaun Murphy has won his seventh ranking title after winning the Gibraltar open, beating Judd Trump 4-2 in the final
Murphy who had been struggling with form recently had a convincing week in Gibraltar beating Barry Hawkins, Mark Williams, Nigel Bond and Judd Trump in the final.
In the post match interview Murphy said:
“I’ve come through some tough matches over the past few days. Mark Williams and I had a really really game against each other earlier on.
“There’s a few of us who really know the game and thing Judd is probably the best player in the world right now. He’s playing the best snooker of anyone right now.
“I had to play well tonight and luckily I did.”
Judd Trump said;
“I had a lot of chances and I just didn’t take my chances. When you play someone as good as Shaun, your going to get punished.
Shaun Murphy picked up a £25,000 prize for winning.
The players championship gets underway tomorrow from Llandudno, Wales. It see’s the top 16 players in the world battle it out to be crowned champion.
