Mark Selby was crowned the 2016 snooker world champion last night after defeating Chinese sensation Ding Junhui by 18-14 in a fantastic final. Mark Selby and wife Vicky and their daughter were delighted with this win in this epic battle.
Selby got off to a great start by taking the first 6 frames but Ding admitting he was nervous came back to get within one frame of the world number one 7-6. Selby managed to hang on to his lead over the entire match though, not letting Ding get within one frame of him again throughout the match but Ding done very well to stick with him. Towards the end of the match, Selby opened up a three frame advantage over Ding where he ultimately took the final frame he required to secure his victory of the snooker world championship.
As ever Mark Selby showed some great match play with some of the best safety play your ever likely to see. He also managed to steal a few frames from Ding that perhaps he should of lost.
This is Mark Selby’s second snooker world championship title winning his first title in 2014. Mark Selby and wife Vicky with their daughter came down to the table after the match to join in the celebrations of his win.
Ding Junhui played an epic snooker world championshipt, going through three rounds of qualifiers and working his way to the final. That with the added pressure of 400 million Chinese players watching and supporting him must of been daunting. He handled himself brilliantly though, taking 14 frames, a couple of centuries and smiling lots. He is certainly a very different player than the 16 year old we saw all those years ago.
Mark Selby and wife Vicky can now enjoy a few weeks off before the new season begins in late June. Selby will now remain as number 1 in the world, followed closely by Stuart Bingham in second.
