Liang Wenbo has become the first winner of the brand new English Open event in Manchester last night. He beat fellow friend and practice partner, Judd Trump 9-6 in one of the highest quality finals seen in some time.
Wenbo’s win last night has proven he has now become a more mature player. He is said to be one of the best players ever seen on the practice tables by many of his fello professionals.
After beating Stuart Bingham 6-5 in an epic semi final, Wenbo’s confidence was sky high as he went into the final against Trump. At the end of the first session the score line was 5-3 which set him up nicely going into the evening session.
In the evening session, Wenbo pushed on and won the match 9-3 to which he celebrated in some style.
Wenbo will now hope to push on and win more tournaments and will no dount hope to win some of the bigger tournaments such as the UK championship, to which he got to the final last year.
