We are now down to the last four in the World Open championship from China having seen some great snooker this week. This afternoon we saw favorite Neil Robertson defeating David Gilbert, while Joe Perry gets himself to the world open semi final by sending the 2014 champion, Shaun Murphy home.
The match between Robertson and Gilbert was quite scrappy today but he managed to get himself over the line without much trouble.
Perry dispatched Shaun Murphy by 5-2 earlier, dominating proceeding particularly after the mid-session interval.
This now leaves good friends Robertson and Perry to battle it out tomorrow in the Semi-finals. Robertson being the bookies favorite will have to up his game after today to be victorious one would feel as Perry looks in fine form. Robertson will be looking to add to the silverware which he won in Riga last month.
The other semi-final bout between Ali Carter and Un-Nooh will be an interesting affair altogether. Carter has shown some really good form lately and no doubt will be determined to capitalize on his opponents inexperience at the closing end of tournaments.
But lets not rule out Un-Nooh yet. This kid has all the ingredients to be a top 16 snooker player. If Un-Nooh gets out of the blocks early and accumulates an early lead, then the pressure will all be on Carter.
The bookies think the final will consist of Robertson and Carter, but don’t be surprised to find another possible upset in this years World Open.
